The Highlights

The Full Itinerary

Day 1 - OSLO

You might be arriving off a long flight, or just fancy easing yourself into holiday-mode, so for our first day we have tickets for the Hop-on-hop-off bus tour of Oslo. In your own time, you can get to know the lay out of the city while taking in the stunning architecture of the Royal Palace, the Opera House and learning about history and culture from the onboard audio. A full loop of all 18 stops takes 90
minutes but you can hop off at any stop to take a closer look.

This evening we'll meet in the hotel lobby and walk to a local restaurant for an included Welcome Dinner where you can meet and mingle with your fellow travellers.

Meals: Dinner

Stay: CityBox Oslo (or similar)

Day 2 - OSLO

On your bike! Cycling is a brilliant way to see a new destination. You can pack in lots of places in a short time without them whizzing past too quickly! We will cycle along the car-free Akerselva River path spending around 90 minutes in the saddle broken up with around 90 minutes of visiting different sites. The perfect balance! As well as the traditional visitor attractions, we will visit the “alternative” neighbourhood known for its street art, Mathallen. Once we’ve worked up an appetite we’ll stop off for around 20 minutes at an indoor food market. For nature lovers, we’ll be stopping off at Oslo’s largest waterfalls before heading to Grünerløkka to discover some of the best cafes, bars and restaurants Oslo has to offer.

This afternoon and evening is yours to explore the Norwegian Capital - your Hop On Hop Off ticket is still valid, Oslo Opera House, The Vikingship Museum, The Royal Palace and The Ibsen Museum. Stay out for dinner or feel free to join us at a local restaurant.

Stay: CityBox Oslo (or similar)

Day 3 - OSLO

For those who don’t mind an early start and a little exercise, this morning we’ll be heading out on the water. Stand-up Paddle boarding is a regular feature on most travellers’ bucket lists, and what better location to do it than along the coastline of the Oslo Fjord. Special beginner boards will help you balance, meaning you can concentrate more on the scenery and not too much on staying upright! Our private guide will give tips on how to paddle as well as pointing out highlights of the Nordic landscape. The session will last around 90 minutes and by the end you’ll be feeling like a pro! If you’re more of a culture vulture than an adrenaline junkie, why not check out Oslo’s many free galleries and museums. Head to the National Gallery where you can see Edvar Munch’s famous painting “The Scream”, The Contemporary Art Museum or the Film Museum if you’re a movie buff.

Stay: CityBox Oslo (or similar)

Day 4 - FLAM

Now the adventure really begins! Pack an overnight bag, we’re heading into the heart of the fjords. A courier will take our suitcases from the Oslo hotel to Bergen so we can travel lightly using the famous Flam Railway. Around midday we’ll take a train from Central Oslo to Myrdal where we will switch to the old fashioned and scenic Flam Railway, which will treat us to stunning views of the breath-taking fjords. We’ll arrive in Flam in the evening and before bed you might want to do some star-gazing, making the most of this town which has very little artificial light.

Stay: Fretheim Hotel, Flam Marina Apartments (or similar)

Day 5 - BERGEN

This morning we’ll be kayaking on the Aurlandsfjorden to get a closer look. Our private guide will help us paddle out and explain the history of the area. On our return we’ll be boarding a ship which will cruise from Flam up the Aurslandfjorden and down the Naeroyfjord to Gudvangen. The final part of our fjord adventure will be a coach through the Norwegian mountains towards Bergen.

Meals: Breakfast

Stay: CityBox Bergen (or similar)

Day 6 - BERGEN

After an active few days you may want to enjoy a long lie and wander around the World Heritage City in your own time. You may want to visit the famous area of Bryggen, another UNESCO World Heritage site, or take the Floibanen funicular to get a better view of the city.

Stay: CityBox Bergen (or similar)

Onto our second country! It only takes one hour and a half to fly from Bergen to Stockholm, so we’ll be having breakfast in Norway and lunch in Sweden! Once we’ve checked in and freshened up we’ll step on board S/S Stockholm for an evening dinner cruise. Venturing out to Vaxholm, the capital of the Archipelago, then onwards through the smalls islands that make up the inner archipelago. We will be spoiled for choice between savouring the delicious food, grab a camera to capture the stunning Scandic scenery. Dinner will include three courses of mouth-watering traditional, local food.

Meals: Dinner

Stay: Comfort Hotel Xpress (or similar)

Stockholm is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Scandinavia, but today we will explore the Old Town which first emerged in the early 1200s. We’ll learn about the Swedish monarchs, the Italian and German architecture, the famous Nobel museum and the bloody history this city was built on. We’ll finish off this hour-long tour wandering through hidden lanes of the city that tourists usually
leave undiscovered.

Stay: Comfort Hotel Xpress (or similar)

After learning about historic Stockholm the previous day, it’s back to the future with a wander around Stockholm’s modern, hipster area, Sodermalm. This town might sound familiar to those who read the “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” trilogy. Sodermalm was the setting for the gritty thriller and we’ll have the chance to step into the world of Lisbeth Salander. Sodermalm is often listed as one of  the “coolest” places in the world so we’ll end our tour in SoFo (South of Folkungatan) for a drink and something to eat after saying goodbye to our local guide.

Stay: Comfort Hotel Xpress (or similar)

It’s time to move on to our second city in Sweden, Gothenburg! We’ll leave midmorning for our three hour train journey which means we will arrive at the perfect time to check-in to our special hotel for the night. Just a 10 minute walk from the train station, the impressive Viking Boat hotel will give you a feel for nautical Scandinavian history as well as gorgeous, comfortable rooms. Once checked in, you’ll be provided with tickets for the Hop-on-hop off boat tour. This hour long boat trip squeezes in the city’s contrasting historical landmarks and exciting modern street life. You will have the chance to hop on and hop off at your leisure and whilst aboard you can enjoy the commentary informing you about Gothenburg’s Viking history.

Leave your boat at Lilla Bommen to admire the impressive Opera House and one of Scandinavia’s largest sailing ships known as Viking, or visit the 17th-century fortress Nya Älvsborg residing on an island. Step ashore at Feskekörka to trawl through its seafood-laden stalls and perhaps dig into a delicious, straight-from-the-sea lunch. Or, why not take time out at Lejontrappan, and scour Gothenburg’s main shopping streets for souvenirs and designer goodies?

Stay: Viking Barken Hotel

Today we arrive in our third and final country, Denmark! In the morning we will take the train from Gothenburg to Copenhagen, which will take 3 hours and a half. Known for its waterways and maritime history, we get into the swing of Copenhagen by kicking off with a Canal Tour. Hop aboard your sightseeing cruise boat in Nyhavn or Ved Strand in central Copenhagen. Our live guide will point out what makes Copenhagen special including the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tales and the iconic Little Mermaid. We’ll take in both the historic and modern architecture which makes Copenhagen such a vibrant culture hub.

Meals: Breakfast

Stay: Cabinn City (or similar)

A trip to Copenhagen is a double bonus as you can hope on a train and within 35 minutes you are in Malmo, on the Swedish side of the border. Take your time exploring the twin city and we will meet for dinner before hopping back over the border to the hotel. Dinner in one country and sleeping in another, this is what makes Europe so great!

Meals: Breakfast

Stay: Cabinn City (or similar)

If you consider yourself a Hipster, Copenhagen will be the highlight of your trip! Particularly the neighbourhood of Vesterbro. Once upon a time it was the world’s most famous red-light district, paired with drugs, prostitution, dive bars and tattoo parlours. Nowadays, it’s where the city’s hip, young crowd hang out, so we should fit right in! We will check out some craft beer houses while we listen to stories about Vesterbro’s transformation.  A great spot to end the afternoon, we will be in the perfect place to have our Farewell Dinner and celebrate an amazing trip!

Flexible Options
ravelling with friends? Our accommodation options on this tour can be combined to give you a mix of twin and single rooms throughout.
In some destinations it may also possible to arrange a Solo Sharing option in a 2 Bedroom Apartment (see below - subject to availability)

Want to upgrade your room type for all or part of the trip? No problem!

Contact us and we will tailor the tour to your preferences.

Let us introduce you to our exclusive 'Solo Sharing' accommodation options. After spending over 15 years booking travel and sending people all over the world, it is very apparent that the majority of group tours are traditionally aimed at people travelling in Twin or Double Share Accommodation. There is always the option of a 'single supplement' however they are often an additional 50% of the tour cost. Of course you could travel independently, but if you're travelling solo or with just one other person, sometimes it's nice to meet new people.

Solo Sharing is a unique concept that allows friends and family to travel together, while having your own space. While we do have the usual Twin, Double & Single options, Solo Sharing gives you a mixture of either your own hotel room, or your own bedroom in a 2 Bedroom Apartment. This has allowed us to dramatically reduce the jump between sharing a room for the entirety of a tour, or having to pay a single supplement. We exclusively work with properties that offer apartment style accommodation or provide a discount for single occupancy rooms.

Some of our tours have Solo Sharing options built in, the others can be arranged on a case by case basis. Because we book and host your trip we can tailor it to be exactly what you want. Get in touch with us and we can put together the perfect combination for you!
